Fan Asks Rihanna About New Album, She Jokes: ‘I Lost It’

The Navy is just gonna have to wait.

The Navy has been relentlessly hounding Rihanna about releasing her highly-anticipated ninth studio album. Anytime she posts to social media, whether it's her latest Fenty drop or philanthropic efforts, her dedicated legion of fans quickly chime in with comments asking about the album.

  • Rihanna took to Instagram on Wednesday (May 13) to share a  preview of her new sunglass collection for her Off The Record Fenty eyewear line. As expected, fans flooded the post’s comment section asking her where the new music is at, and one fan elicited a direct response from Rih.

“Where’s the album,” one person demanded, to which the “Work” singer replied, “I lost it,” along with a shrugging emoji. Then, a second user commented separately, writing “Don't drop dat [sic] album.” “Navy, this is who to blame right here look,” Rih jokingly responded.

  • Well, fans can at least be comforted by the fact that Rihanna has been working on her long-awaited follow-up to 2016’s Anti. In February, the Barbadian music and fashion mogul posted a photo revealing that she was in the studio with The Neptunes. That following month, she shared some more details about the project with British Vogue.

“I can’t say when I’m going to drop,” she said. “But I am very aggressively working on music.”

“I don’t want my albums to feel like themes. There are no rules. There’s no format,” she continued. “There’s just good music, and if I feel it, I’m putting it out. I feel like I have no boundaries. I’ve done everything – I’ve done all the hits, I’ve tried every genre – now I’m just, I’m wide open. I can make anything that I want.”
