DaBaby’s ‘Blame It On Baby’ Album Has Fans Losing It Over One Track

The North Carolina MC sampled this R&B classic.

North Carolina’s breakout rap star DaBaby isn’t letting the coronavirus pandemic stop him from releasing new music.

  • The rapper has returned with his second studio offering, Blame It On Baby

After much teasing and hype, the album hit streaming platforms at the stroke of midnight Friday (April 18).

This comes after DaBaby sparked rumors that he was dating social media comedian and influencer B. Simone with a photo. The stunt was later revealed to be a teaser for the music video for the album's lead single, “Finding My Way.”

  • The 13-track album is the follow-up to his well-received debut studio album KIRK, which dropped in September 2019.

Hours before the new release dropped, DaBaby posted a video on his Instagram page where he broke down how each track came together and why he chose to collaborate with certain artists.

  • Among the credits, Blame It On Baby features appearances from Future, Quavo, Roddy Ricch, NBA Youngboy, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie

Most notably, DaBaby and Megan Thee Stallion are on another track together again after the “Suge” rapper appeared on the Hot Girl leader’s fan-favorite hit, “Cash Shit” off her Fever mixtape.

Surprisingly, the two rappers teamed up with Ashanti for the album’s 12th track, “Nasty.” Sampling the R&B songstress’ 2002 classic “Baby,” this is a raunchy declaration of all the things DaBaby and Megan plan to get up to with their lovers while Ashanti holds down the chorus.

  • The song has emerged as a standout cut amongst fans. Shortly after the album’s release, Ashanti, Megan, and DaBaby’s name were trending on Twitter.

“The way that this Dababy, Ashanti, & Megan song hit,” one fan gushed on the social platform. “Dababy, Meg, [and] Ashanti did their thang on Nasty tho!”

Another added, “Dababy and Megan verses about wild and freaky as hell and the Ashanti sample is crazy.”
