Update (04/01/20): On Monday (March 31), DJ Jazzy Jeff alarmed fans after he revealed that he was recovering from a recent bout of pneumonia in both of his lungs. He also revealed that his recovery was coupled with symptoms that have majorly been prominent among coronavirus cases as he cautioned fans to take the illness seriously. Fortunately, Jeff has now updated fans on his condition via Instagram Stories where he lowered the concern for a possible COVID-19 infection. He thanked his fans for their flood of support and shared that he is doing much better.
“I’m GOOD!!! Thank God!!!” Jazzy Jeff announced. “I posted yesterday to bring awareness to how serious [the coronavirus pandemic] is...Please look out for each other.”

With the U.S. surpassing China for the highest number of confirmed cases, the general public’s concerns and fears are also increasing as reported cases continue to skyrocket.
The spread has also publicly impacted the Hollywood community on medical and economic levels as travel advisories and shelter-in-place directives came into effect in response to the global pandemic. As such, many have taken to social media to warn others after testing positive for the virus themselves, such as Tom Hanks, Kevin Durant, and Idris Elba.On Monday (March 30), DJ Jazzy Jeff revealed the possibility of his name being added to the growing list of celebrity cases. The legendary turntablist took to his Instagram Stories where he alluded that he could be showing symptoms of the virus as he recovers from pneumonia. In his update, Jeff revealed that he is recovering from pneumonia in both of his lungs. But the 55-year-old further disclosed that he was experiencing other symptoms that could hint at even more dire medical circumstances.
“Pls say a prayer for the sick...it’s more than you!!” he wrote in his Instagram Stories. “I’m recovering from pneumonia in both my lungs...I lost my sense of smell and taste which is the main sign of the virus. I would NOT be here if not for my guardian angel for a wife.”
Jeff did not state whether or not he has been tested by a doctor just yet. But the symptoms he listed above have been linked to the coronavirus, which additionally manifests in the form of a fever, cough, or shortness of breath according to the Centers for Disease and Control (CDC).
In closing, Jeff urged everyone to take the pandemic seriously. “[COVID-19] does not care who you are...what you do or what your plans are. Stay safe,” he cautioned. Moreover, it appears he has been battling pneumonia for some time. Jeff’s last tweet was published on March 7 where he wrote, “I’ll be happy when I’m home and I can cough freely...LOL.”
