Cardi B Defends Comments About Celebs Being Paid To Say They Have Coronavirus
Cardi B is standing by her comments about the handful of celebrities who have revealed positive results for the coronavirus.
Earlier this week, Cardi stated that she was beginning to believe celebrities were being paid to say they have the coronavirus, a conspiracy theory that has been floating around online amid the pandemic. Though he didn’t respond to Cardi directly, Hollywood film star Idris Elba later addressed and denied notions that celebrities were cashing out for saying they were infected. Idris felt that the negativity around test shaming is “counterproductive.”
“This idea that someone like myself is going to be paid to say I’ve got coronavirus, that’s like absolute bulls**t, such stupidness,” he said.
On Tuesday (March 24), Cardi posted a lengthy video on her Instagram page clarifying her sentiments. In the four-minute address, she said that confusion is inevitable when celebs reveal that they tested positive for the coronavirus despite not displaying any symptoms. Cardi shared that she personally knew someone in their 30s that tested positive for the coronavirus, but was told they could only be tested for the coronavirus if they showed symptoms for eight days straight.
“People that work regular jobs, people that get regular paychecks, the middle class, the poor, they not getting treated like celebrities, they not getting they f**king coronavirus results the next day,” Cardi ranted. Even when normal people are testing positive, Cardi noted how they don’t have the same options to quarantine themselves away from their family.
“Not everybody have the luxury to go in they f***ing bedroom and to go in a big-a** house and just stay away from people. A lot of people live in small-a** apartments with multiple people,” she pointed out. “So it's like, if you're sending me home and I have the corona-f***ing-virus, I'm most likely gonna give it to my spouse, my kids, anybody that's around me.”
She also mentioned that there are a number of inequalities that prevent the average citizen from getting access to tests to even know if they’ve contracted the virus.
“A lot of celebrities, y’all have the luxury to pay $34,00 whatever the f**k it cost to get tested and treated. A lot of people don’t have that f***ing money. A lot of people don’t even have enough money to f***ing afford healthcare,” she continued.

Cardi also had some strong words for the Trump administration. She slammed the government for letting the pandemic spiral to the level it has. As such, she feels the government should foot the bill instead.
“I think the government should charge that s**t to the game and not charge people for it. Because at the end of the day, this s**t could’ve been prevented when they found out about s**t a couple of months ago, and the s**t they was doing in China” she voiced. “They shouldn’t charging no motherf***ing Medicaid, health insurance, none of that s**t.”
