Cam’Ron Offers Advice To ‘Power’ Star Michael Rainey Jr. Amid Death Threats

Rainey revealed that he received over 300 death threats after a clip leaked online last year.

It finally happened: STARZ’s acclaimed crime drama Power finally came to a shocking end on Sunday (Feb. 9) that left viewers’ jaws on the floor.

  • The series’ final moments also revealed the long-awaited answer to the lingering question from the show’s mid-season finale of who ultimately shot Ghost, who is portrayed by Omari Hardwick. As fans had long suspected, the former gangster was betrayed by his own son, Tariq, who is portrayed by actor Michael Rainey Jr.

If you’ll recall, Rainey revealed on Instagram that he had received over 326 death threats on social media after a since-deleted clip of the big reveal prematurely leaked online last year. Thus, Dipset’s Cam’Ron, who faced a similar dilemma in the early 2000s amid his acting streak, offered Rainey his thoughts on the matter.

  • Despite the fact it’s been nearly two decades since Cam was cast as Rico for Paid in Full, the Purple Haze 2 rapper says he still deals with the repercussions of his fictional character’s actions. As you’ll recall, Rico shot and killed his close friend Mitch in an act of greed in 2002 crime drama.

“Yo bro, live with it...it’s been 18yrs and they still asking...why I killed Mitch #YaTurn😂😂#NiggasGetDeathThreatsEveryDayB#UBeAlright #UTuffRight,” Cam commented on Instagram in response to Rainey’s original post.

While it seems Cam is still fending off threats nearly two decades later, Rainey may have a chance to clear his name with Power fans. Most recently, the 19-year-old posted a teaser for one of the series’ upcoming spin-offs, Power Book II: Ghost, featuring Mary J. Blige and Method Man. The storyline will be centered around Tariq’s new reality amid the ensuing fall out after Ghost’s death.
