Tekashi 6ix9ine's Former Bodyguards Reportedly Refuse To Work For Him Once He's Released From Prison

Tekashi is currently serving a 24-month sentence behind bars and is expected to be released in late 2020.

Despite his recently instated two-year prison sentence, buzz in the industry streets has it that Tekashi 6ix9ine could possibly be released from prison in a few months.

  • The Brooklyn rapper is currently locked up behind bars serving out the 24-month prison bid, most of which he’s already served. However, there’s been much speculation as to how he’ll fare once he’s back on the outside. TMZ previously reported that Tekashi planned to hire round the clock security, but according to a new report from the outlet, several of his former security guards have reportedly said they won't be returning to work for the rapper once he’s released.

  • According to TMZ, Tekashi’s former bodyguards feel that there is no amount of money in the world that would make it worth their time to offset the risk of protecting a guy who has “zero street [credibility] or integrity.”

  • Sources close to the matter also told the outlet many of Tekashi’s former bodyguards felt that the rapper needlessly put them in harm’s way before he went to jail. His security detail also did not like how they were frequently drawn into the “street politics” between Tekashi and rival gang sets, according to TMZ.

This latest development comes on the heels of a report from Complex that stated Tekashi reportedly asked a judge to allow him to serve the remainder of his prison term on home confinement or in a community correctional facility. The Brooklyn-bred rapper’s attorney, Lance Lazzaro, stated that Tekashi’s “safety is still, and will continue to be for the foreseeable future, seriously at risk.”

  • “Given the significant and ongoing threat to Hernandez’s safety as a result of his past and potential future cooperation, the government has filed papers which force Hernandez to remain incarcerated at a private jail in an effort to secure his safety,” the legal documents read, according to Complex. “However, even at the private jail, Hernandez is still housed with various members of the Bloods.”
