Summer Walker Is Done With Touring And Interviews: 'Y'all Don't Deserve Me'
Summer Walker is over it. The 23-year singer-songwriter took to Instagram this past Sunday (Nov. 3) to confess how she really feels about the music industry.
Walker is currently on a joint tour with Bronx rapper Meili, aptly dubbed The First & Last Tour. While she didn’t say she was completely quitting music, Walker said she will be taking a step back from the public eye, as she no longer wishes to tour or do press.
“[For real] though, I’ve decided y’all don’t deserve me lol I knew from day one I was to [sic] real for this s**t. Y’all can have the music [and] ima just head out. F**k the interviews, photo shoots, videos, [and] really, the shows too. I’ll finish this tour out [though],” she wrote to her 1.6 million followers. “I’m just a regular person, nothing more. People got this fame s**t f**ked up. I been me from day one, I’m not ‘bout to start acting different, talking different, treating people different, or looking different.”
Walker has spoken about having social anxiety numerous times, and the 23-year-old singer-songwriter has been under even more of a spotlight after her debut EP, Over It, dropped earlier this year. The project resulted in the biggest streaming week for an R&B album by a woman since Beyoncé’s Lemonade.

The success of Over It hasn’t stopped the public from criticizing the “Girls Need Love” songstress, though. People online recently mocked Walker for her showering habits. Most notably, the singer received backlash for her demeanor during her NPR Tiny Desk performance, even though Walker explained she was “really freaking excited to be [there].”
“I have social anxiety like a m*therf*cker," she told the audience during her set. “I'm freaked the hell out, I'm sweating, but this is so exciting for me.”
