A Nipsey Hussle Biography ‘The Marathon Don’t Stop’ Is Coming Out Soon
Nipsey Hussle’s story is already a part of hip-hop’s history, but now it will be immortalized in a biography. According to Complex, VIBE magazine founding editor Rob Kenner is writing a book about Nipsey’s life, titled The Marathon Don’t Stop: The Life and Times of Nipsey Hussle, that will be published by Atria Books.
The biographical work will feature commentary from Nipsey himself (from his previous interviews) alongside interviews from those closest to him.
"The last time I spoke with Nipsey Hussle, he told me, ‘I ain’t outside giving out jewelry or dropping off bags of money on people, but I’m giving out game,'" Kenner told Complex. “This book is my attempt to help fulfill that intention. The Marathon Don’t Stop will also place his accomplishments in proper historical context, giving Nipsey Hussle his rightful place in the history of hip-hop, Los Angeles, and America. It will include interviews with people who haven’t spoken before, as well as insights into the forces that shaped Hussle into the man he became.”
Speaking to the publication, Kenner said that he felt inspired to write a book about Nipsey in the wake of the tragic shooting that claimed the 31-year-old’s life. Although the book was not authorized by Nipsey’s family or estate, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the late rapper’s estate.
Kenner’s hope is that his book will illuminate how the entrepreneurial-minded Victory Lap rapper and activist was a driving force of change within his community with the wish that it will inspire others.
The biography is scheduled to be released on March 24, 2020. Read what else Kenner has to say about Nipsey Hussle and his forthcoming biography here.
