King Los Showed Out At During The BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher
The BET Hip Hop Awards is one of the few stages where rappers can put on the gloves and lyrically duke it out. The annual award show’s classic cyphers have traditionally been the battleground for rappers to launch their verbal takedowns without rebuke.
Up-and-comers like Detroit femme fatale Kash Doll, IDK, King Los, Travis Thompson, and baller-rapper Iman Shupert had all eyes on them as the first crew to take the stage.
DJ HED held it down on the turntable as the rising emcees took the spotlight. King Los popped things off with a short shout out to his contemporaries before he kicked off to Kash to get the cypher flowing.
While each rapper of the 5-man crew held it down lyrically, and Iman was a tough act to follow, it was Baltimore’s own King Los who came in at the end of the 6-minute cypher and destroyed.
The baby-faced 37-year-old had Twitter lit with his savvy wordplay. From references to 50 Cent’s highly successful Power series to Tekashi 6ix9ine’s court case, King Los showed range in his powerful, self-congratulatory ode. The internet has already crowned him as the victor.
While plenty of fans were already in the know about the Baltimore rapper’s talent, tonight was a moment for others to stop sleeping.
“King Los killed the cypher,” one fan tweeted, succinctly.
