Rihanna Responds To NYFW Reporter About Her New Album
No matter how hard she tries, Rihanna can not escape questions about that highly anticipated new album that fans are dying to get their hands (and ears) on.
The Barbadian songstress, beauty mogul and fashion maven touched down in New York Tuesday (Sept. 10) for her show-stopping, superstar-studded Savage X Fenty extravaganza at the Brooklyn Barclays Center that critics and fashion insiders alike are already crowning the show of the year.
Ahead of her NYFW show, Rih spoke with Entertainment Tonight journalist Rachel Smith about her first-look partnership with Amazon and how she’s feeling ahead of her lingerie fashion show.
The entertainment journalist picked RiRi's brain on whether she’s feeling a Lizzo collaboration, who gushed over a text message from the multi-hyphenate two weeks ago. Rih, who had nothing but praise for Lizzo and her undying self-confidence, returned the favor with her own fangirl moment.
'Gosh, I love Lizzo. She's so bad*ss,' Rihanna saluted
The 31-year-old professed that although she and the “Truth Hurts” singer currently don’t have anything in the works, she’d be down for a Lizzo-Rihanna production in a heartbeat, whether it’s for her Savage fashion line or music.
While the conversation landed on the topic of music, Smith seized the opportunity to ask RiRi the one thing floating around the Rihanna Navy's wildest dreams for 2019: the status of her next album.
“You about to ask me about my album!" Rihanna interrupted as Smith tried to wiggle in her question, affirming the Barbadian superstar’s suspicions with a swift “Yes girl!”
“I just knew it!” RiRi proclaimed with a big laugh before bursting into a fit of giggles. Taking her shot, the entertainment journalist asked the Anti songstress what kind of sound she’s considering for with her next album.
So far, the pop star has only confirmed that reggae and dancehall tunes will have a heavy presence throughout her ninth studio effort. “Obviously, I'm a confident woman, so whatever I do is going to be confident, whether it’s the album, perfume, lingerie, makeup or fashion,” Rih responded.

As for when fans can expect to hear some new music, Rihanna is still the captain of that ship
“Ya’ll gon’ have to wait, Navy. I’m so sorry,” she declared.
With football season picking up, Smith asked whether Rihanna has considered a halftime show appearance as well, especially considering her mentor Jay-Z’s recent union with the NFL.
“Girl, I still got an album to finish and you asking me about the Super Bowl? Really?” Rihanna replied. “My fans are going to have my neck.”
