Lil Nas X Locks In Top 10 Debut On Billboard's Rock Songs Chart With His First EP
After capping the month of June in historical fashion with the most streamed song of 2019 by far and stepping out in his truth, country-rap phenomenon Lil Nas X continues to break new ground. Lil Nas released his debut EP nearly two weeks ago (June 21), and he’s already hitting major career milestones.
The final numbers for his debut week are in, and it had an impressive first week. On Tuesday (July 2), Billboard announced that two tracks from the "Old Town Road" rapper’s first major release, 7, debut in the top 10 on its Hot Rock Songs chart. The tracks, “F9mily (You & Me)" and "Bring U Down," locked in at No. 6 and No. 7, respectively.
It’s an impressive feat in and of itself, but it’s even more noteworthy when you look at the fact that Lil Nas X’s genre-defining EP nabbed top spots on multiple Billboard charts. The eight-track project also landed at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums charts.
Overall, Lil Nas X’s debut album clocked in at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200, which is a cumulative ranking of the album’s overall performance. The album moved 77,000 units and was the most streamed album of that week with 90 million streams.
Impressive, indeed.
