Game Pens Heartfelt Poem To Lauren London
Many have taken Nipsey Hussle's tragic passing hard, including fellow West Coast rapper The Game, who considered the late Slauson-native a brother. When news of Nipsey's death first broke, The Game posted a video of himself breaking down in tears as he drove through his fallen rap comrade's neighborhood.
Since Nip's funeral, the Compton-native has been keeping himself busy with commemorating Nip's legacy, namely through daily social media posts sharing intimate anecdotes he shared with the late rapper hashtagged #OneNipPostADayTiliFadeAway.
On Wednesday (May 1), the "You Know What It Is" rapper shared a lengthy poem he penned saluting Nipsey and Lauren London's love, calling them "soulmates."
The poem follows Lauren's two tributes to her lover as well. Following the tragic March 31 shooting, she posted a heartbreaking tribute for her "sanctuary" and "protector." After his funeral, she cemented her love with a tattoo in honor of her longtime partner. The couple, who were together for five years and share a son, Kross, had a love story worthy of national recognition.
As the story goes, the pair first linked up in 2014 when Lauren DM'ed Nipsey asking for a copy of his Crenshaw mixtape on behalf of a friend. They got together shortly after that and quickly became the embodiment of #BlackLove goals.
They almost broke the internet in February when GQ dropped their March 2019 issue with the lovebirds as the faces of the roll out. The typically private couple opened up to GQ, with Lauren confessing that she was "head over heels" in love with the Grammy-nominated rapper since they first met.
Her recollection of their time spent together made a memorialized video of the two at Def Jam's Pre-Grammy Brunch surrounded by the love of the hip-hop community, the last public footage of them together before Nipsey was shot, that much more tender.
But as noted in Game's loving letter to Lauren, "Love Never Dies."
We continue to extend our prayers and love to Lauren and the family, friends and fans of Ermias Asghedom, a.k.a. Nipsey The Great.
