Here’s What People Thought About Kanye West’s ‘Sunday Service’ At Coachella

The reviews were mixed, to say the least.

One of the more anticipated sets at this year’s Coachella was Kanye West and his now-famed “Sunday Service,” a church inspired series of performances the rapper and producer has been doing for months now.

This morning, on Easter Sunday (April 21), fans lined up starting at 6 a.m. for a glimpse of ‘Ye’s service, which began at 9 a.m. The performance was live-streamed exclusively on YouTube and featured a small, pinhole view as opposed to the widescreen one typically used for the festival’s livestreams.

  • Kanye’s set began relatively subdued with instrumentals as nearly 40 minutes passed before any vocals began. When he did start, the choir led the crowd through gospel songs and hymns while West swayed and danced along to the beat onstage. Similar to previous Sunday Services, he played the keyboard throughout his performance.

As far as guests are concerned, the Sunday Service featured a prayer by DMX, during which Kanye was seen getting emotional and crying. The KarJenner clan was also in attendance for Sunday Service. Chance the Rapper and Teyana Taylor were also present and sang several times throughout the show.

Previously, Kim Kardashian had been releasing never-before-seen footage of Kanye’s “Church Of Yeezus” services. ‘Ye and his wife have been welcoming friends and family to their home, packed with worshipers, who like to get down with the gospel.
