Brandy Threw Major Shade At Monica During Essence Fest, And Fans Are At War...
The ancient R&Beef between vocalist icons Brandy and Monica has sporadically reared its head from the ‘90s and into the last few years with public shots fired from the Never Say Never songstress.
Brandy unloaded her latest ammo on the stage of 2018’s Essence Festival, using the critically acclaimed, R&B treasured duet single with Momo, “The Boy Is Mine,” as the perfect opportunity. In a video from a fan, she wraps up her performance of the 1998 record and pulls another lyric exchange, echoing the same one from two years ago that reignited speculations of recent tension between the ladies. Instead of singing, “the boy is mine,” Brandy swapped the lyrics for “the song is mine” while concluding her set in front of an ocean of Essence Fest crowd goers.
Monica hasn’t publicly fired back at Brandy. But her fans are locked, loaded and fully armed for an internet war to defend the Atlanta-bred songstress against rooters of the Vocal Bible.
