Nicki Minaj Dragged This Writer In A Private DM, And The Internet Is At War
A blow-up between Nicki Minaj and writer Wanna Thompson shook up Twitter over the weekend after the now-former Karen Civil employeeâs tweet that criticized the Queen raptressâ musical subject matter and jabbed that âsheâs touching 40 soonâ so âa new direction is needed.â
Shortly after, as Thompson revealed from a screenshot, Nicki slid into her DMs with a response to the criticism, specifically calling out the shot Thompson took at her age. In response to her critique, The Pinkprint femcee also named a number of singles and hit songs from her previous album that addressed Thompsonâs call for âmature contentâ from the Barbie music vault. Â
âAnd what does that have to do with my music?â Nicki wrote. âEat a d**k you hating a** hoe. Got the nerve to have a trini flag on ur page. You must not have heard âThe Pinkprint.â Or âPills N Potions,â âBed Of Lies,â âSave Me,â my recent feature with Alicia Keys, Tasha Cobbs. Just say u jealous Iâm rich, famous, intelligent, pretty and go! But wait! Leave my balls! Tired of u sucking them.â
Thompson posted the DM from Nicki on her timeline, pointing out that sheâd been insulted numerous times over an âinnocent music opinionâ and calling out the Barbs Army, who swarmed to her DMs with death threats and harassment. The exchange quickly racked up retweets and a heated debate between the Barbs Army, anti-Nicki proponents, and everyone in between. And after another incident spurred in the midst of the controversy, Thompsonâs termination from Karen Civil, Nickiâs name shot to the top of Twitterâs trending topics as the Twitterverse went blow for blow in defense or disapproval of the Barb honchoâs clapback.
