Janet Jackson Has A Message For Her Father While He Battles Terminal Cancer
Joe Jackson is in pretty bad shape right now.
He’s battling terminal cancer and was hospitalized for his condition. Now, his daughter Janet, is making sure her feelings about her dad are out there for him to hear before he passes away.
On Friday (June 22), the superstar singer took the stage at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood where she was honored at the 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards. She was awarded the Impact Award, which has now been renamed the Janet Jackson Award. During her speech, Janet remarked about her father’s influence on her career and life.
“It’s beautiful, it’s humbling to be recognized as someone that has had a positive impact, but if I have been fortunate enough to impact others it is only because I, myself, have been greatly impacted by positive people in my life,” she said in her speech.
“My mother nourished me with the most extravagant love imaginable, my father, my incredible father, drove me to be the best that I can,” she continued. “My siblings set an incredibly high standard for artistic excellence… Sometimes, having an impact can be as simple as a smile, a handshake, or a hug.”
TMZ reported on Friday that Joe Jackson has been battling cancer “for some time.” His cancer supposedly “cannot be treated.” Joe’s 88-year-old wife Katherine Jackson, among other family members, have reportedly been at his bedside.
Jermaine Jackson told The Daily Mail earlier this week that his father is “very, very frail” and “doesn’t have long.” “The family needs to be by his bedside — that’s our only intention in his final days,” he said.
Our thoughts are with the Jackson family during this difficult time, and props to Janet on her award and touching speech.
