As of late, Murder Inc.’s R&B solo singer Ashanti is steering clear of any talk and hearsay regarding her former rap beau Nelly, their breakup after 10 years, and his recent sexual assault allegations.

That changed when a fan at her concert threw out some choice words for the St. Louis rapper, and Ashanti hit back with just one that might shed more light on their 2012 breakup.

The “Say Less” singer took to the stage for an acapella performance of her more soulful records. Beforehand, she takes a moment with her fans to talk about the effects of disloyalty.

“I’ve been betrayed before—publicly at that,” she said.

When a fan yelled out “F**k Nelly!,” Ashanti seconded his verbal middle finger to the rapper with, “Word.”

The crowdgoers around him caught the shade, and cheered in support of her before she belted out a verse from her “The Woman You Love” record. It’s no wonder that the fan picked up quickly on who she was referring to either, especially after she shared those same statements with talk show host Meredith Vieira in 2015 after their breakup. We guess she wasn’t kidding about never, ever, ever getting back with him after all.
