Famed late night show Saturday Night Live is well known and even admired for its wild, comical and zany subject matter, appearances and, sometimes, even performances.

But when pop singer Katy Perry dropped by for an increasingly perplexing stage presentation, partially accompanied by the Culture rap trio Migos, you can add confusing and utterly awkward to the list.

Stretched out across a fruit- and vegetable-loaded dinner table as Quavo, Offset and Takeoff wined and dined beside other stage members, Perry delivered a stage visual for their collaborative track “Bon Appétit.” As the performance carried on, so did the strangeness, as she attempted a few dance moves that she figured were suitable for Migos’ hip-hop assist on the track.
