Missy Elliott Returns With Heat for Her 'I'm Better' Video
Hip-hop owes the dawn of a new day to Missy Elliott as the crowned hip-hop emcee has revitalized her futuristic music catalog with her new track “I’m Better.”
Led in with a stimulating visual, Missy steps back into her dance floor element for the single, complete with an invasion of idiosyncratic dancers.
On the track, Ms. Misdemeanor pledges allegiance to her new and improved temperance, emphasizing her VIP bravado and even dropping a nod to some of her male rap counterparts.
“Man I'm 3000, I'm Andre," she spits over the smooth bass line. “Yo Missy talk big, I'm so grande / Bruce Lee on the beat, I don't compete with none of these geeks / I just rant like I'm Kanye.”
When it comes to Missy, there’s no need for an announcement to rev up anticipation for her comeback, especially after a decades worth of lingering beneath the industry radar. Even after a stunning VH1 Hip-Hop Honors tribute, beaming with luminary femcees such as Eve, we’re still left wanting more from the “Lose Control” rap veteran. During her hiatus, however, she apparently kept herself busy, joining forces with Michelle Obama for "This Is for My Girls" and spinning a verse on Fall Out Boy's "Ghostbusters (I'm Not Afraid)." And after she promised us an upcoming Pharrell and Timbaland-assisted album sans release date, she gives us no choice but to hold her to it.
