J. Cole and Trey Songz Show Support for Colin Kaepernick
Colin Kaepernick made quite a statement when he began not standing during renditions of the national anthem at preseason 49ers games. It, like many stands for racial equality, caused a national uproar with everyone taking a side.
Opposed to those who criticize the Niners’ quarterback and think they’re in solidarity with veterans (even though many veterans have come out in support of Kaep) numerous members of the hip-hop community decided to openly side with Kaepernick.
J. Cole and Trey Songz both decided to wear Kaep’s jersey during recent concerts. Cole wore his during a performance of “A Tale of 2 Citiez” while Trey donned his during a show in Las Vegas.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Barack Obama and USWNT midfielder Megan Rapinoe are just a few noteworthy public figures to support Colin Kaepernick’s right to protest what he believes to be an exclusionary anthem.
