The Cast of Candyman : Where Are They Now?

We resurrect the horror classic just in time for Halloween.

Candyman - You can’t ask for much more from a film based in the projects. Slightly political but still pure horror, Candyman was lynched for having sex with a white woman. Say his name five times and he comes back to slash anyone in sight.

Candyman (1992) - There aren't many horror films in the Black movie canon, so when Candyman came out this week in 1992, it became an instant classic. The slasher film, based on a novel written by horror-meister Clive Barker, follows a young graduate student exploring the urban legend of Candyman, a former slave who was murdered and his hand replaced with a hook, who now haunts Chicago's Cabrini-Green housing project. Tony Todd - This 6-foot 5-inch actor from Washington, D.C., already had an impressive array of credits (Platoon, Night of the Living Dead) before he put on Candyman's signature trench coat and hook, but Todd became a certified fixture on the horror/thriller scene after the film. He went on to star not only in the two Candyman sequels, but also The Crow, the Final Destination franchise and Hatchet and Hatchet 2.   (Photo: courtesy of Tristar Pictures)

Virginia Madsen - Madsen portrayed Helen Lyle, a graduate student working on a thesis about urban legends who pursued Candyman and faced horrifying consequences as a result. A star since she was a teenager, Madsen rose to fame with films like Dune and Zombie High. Post-Candyman, she starred in The Rainmaker and Star Trek: Voyager and was the long-running host of Unsolved Mysteries. But her biggest moment came in 2004 when she was nominated for an Oscar for her leading role in Sideways. Madsen currently stars in AMC's Hell on Wheels.  (Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images)
