BET Awards 2021: 5 Times Tiffany Haddish Had Us Hysterically Laughing
Comedy Queen Tiffany Haddish has been cracking us up for years. The Los Angeles native worked hard on comedy’s underground circuits until breaking through with show-stopping performances in Girls Trip (2017) alongside Jada Pinkett Smith and Night School (2018) with Kevin Hart. Ever since, she’s been making our sides hurt with non-stop jokes and gags on every platform she touches. From social media trends that highlight her goofy side, to brilliant writing and improv in her performances on stage and onscreen, Haddish’s talent never lets us down.
Here are the five times we were tickled by her brilliant sense of humor:
When We Giggled At Her Game Show
Tiffany’s star was still just rising when she started hosting the Face Value game show on BET with Deon Cole. The two proved to be a hilarious pair, with Tiffany hosting wild interviews on the street that always kept us on the edge of our seats, then kicking it back to Deon in the studio. The goal was to show that you can’t judge a book by its cover and Tiffany was particularly gifted at bringing out the most surprising answers from guests.
When She Stole The Show in Girls Trip
This breakout role alongside three of Hollywood’s most respected actresses (Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall, Queen Latifah) immediately made Tiffany Haddish a household name. You may not have known who she was when the movie started, but by the end, she was everyone’s favorite new comedian on the scene. Most critics gave Haddish credit for carrying the comedic load and helping make Girls Trip the highest-grossing comedy of 2017, raking in $140 million from a $20 million budget.
When She Made History On Saturday Night Live
Haddish shocked the world when she was named the first Black woman comedian to host Saturday Night Live, which has been on air since 1975. As expected, she absolutely killed, from a hilarious and witty monologue to unforgettable skits. Whether we were cackling at her cat puns in the “Whiskers R We” skit, or pressing buttons she shouldn’t be pushing in promotional ads, Tiffany’s historic SNL debut was a riot from start to finish. We’re just patiently waiting for her next primetime appearance

When She Secured A Groupon Sponsorship
One of Tiffany’s most viral moments was a story she told during a late night talk show interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The hilarious story about getting Will Smith and Jada to join her on a Groupon-endorsed swamp tour had the world cracking up for days. It was one of the first times we got to see how naturally funny Ms. Haddish can be. The clip was so impactful that Groupon reached out to Tiffany to become a spokeswoman for the brand.
When She Got Silly On The Last O.G.
Tiffany continued to build her actress and comedian chops by working alongside comedy legends Tracy Morgan, Cedric The Entertainer and Keenan Ivory Wayans on the sitcom The Last O.G. She plays Shannon 'Shay' Birkeland, girlfriend and baby’s mom to Morgan’s character, who was forced to build her life back up after he was sent to prison for fifteen years. Though she left after three seasons to pursue other projects, we’re just thankful that we got to laugh out loud watching her and Morgan share the screen.
