The Trailer For The New Harriet Tubman Biopic Is Here, And Twitter Is Speechless
The historical biopic of the iconic abolitionist Harriet Tubman is officially under way, with actress Cynthia Erivo taking on the lead role.
The trailer for the highly anticipated film, titled Harriet, takes viewers on a ride through history as Tubman led enslaved people to freedom on America's Underground Railroad in the mid-1800s.
The preview chronicles her journey north toward her own freedom before she made the selfless decision to return to the South to help other enslaved people escape their captors.
Janelle Monáe also appears in the film as one of Tubman's mentors who helps her prepare for any challenges she were to face on her mission.
"God don't mean people to own people," Erivo's Tubman says in the preview, which also features Leslie Odom, Jr., Jennifer Nettles and Joe Alwyn. "I will give every last drop of blood in my veins until this monster called slayers is dead."
