Celebrities Ring The Alarm Over Alabama’s Extreme Abortion Bill

“This is an all-out war on women.”

ICYMI, women’s health is under attack in America, with a severe blow to reproductive rights passing through the Alabama Senate this week. Celebrities are speaking out against a polarizing new anti-abortion bill that effectively bans all pregnancy termination in the state.

According to The Huffington Post, the bill, which was passed by the state's Senate on Tuesday, outlines that any doctor found to have performed an abortion at any stage of pregnancy on a woman can be sentenced to a minimum of 10 years in prison.

It further specifies that exceptions are made for cases where the life of the mother is at risk. However, these exceptions do not apply to cases of rape or incest.

Though the bill was passed, Alabama Governor Key Ivey is yet to sign it, and many are taking to social media to both ring the alarm and appeal to the governor to veto it.

Since the news broke, several celebrities have used their platforms to speak out against the bill, including Ava DuVernay, John Legend, Tracee Ellis Ross and Kerry Washington.
