BET Awards 2024: This Year's Biggest Winning Moments

It was an evening celebrating the brightest star in Black entertainment.

The BET Awards 2024, hosted by the incomparable Taraji P. Henson, showcased yet another spectacular night filled with explosive performances and monumental victories, celebrating the brightest stars in the entertainment industry.

Culture’s biggest night saw over a dozen winners, including Victoria Monét, who took home both the “Video of the Year” and “BET Her” awards. Rising star Tyla also made waves, securing two awards, including “Best New Artist.” The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the “Lifetime Achievement Award” to Usher, an honor bestowed by industry legends BabyFace and L.A. Reid, marking a memorable moment in a night of extraordinary achievements.

As we reflect on another incredible celebration of Black talent, let's revisit some of the evening's most memorable winning moments.

  • Tyla

It was a massive night for South African singer Tyla, who won the “Best International Act” and “Best New Artist” awards. This achievement marks a milestone in her burgeoning career.

In her acceptance speech for the latter win, the “Water” singer expressed gratitude to her fans, family, and the BET community.

“Oh my gosh this crazy, this is also very heavy again. First of all I love Sexyy Red. I love her so much,” she shared. “This is such a gift to be here. I want to dedicate this one to Africa. I want to dedicate this to all the African superstars before me that didn’t get these opportunities that I’m getting. This is just amazing. Africa to the world, guys.”

  • Usher takes home the “Lifetime Achievement Award”

R&B icon Usher was honored with the most sought-after “Lifetime Achievement Award” for his tremendous contributions to the genre. The moment was presented by industry icon Baby Face music executive L.A. Reid.

The “Good Good” singer graciously accepted his trophy. Unfortunately, technical issues prevented many at home from hearing his full speech.

  • Victoria Monét

R&B singer-songwriter Victoria Monét took home two awards, including “Video of the Year” for her smash single “On My Mama” and the evening’s prestigious “BET Her” award.

During her acceptance speech, Monét thanked the director of “On My Mama,” CHILD, the video’s choreographer, Sean Bank, and her dancers.
