  • The origin behind her nickname Bayou Barbie

The nickname “Bayou Barbie” emerged after the star athlete transferred to LSU, referencing the school's location in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her on-court appearance, complete with eyelash extensions and long pink nails, also contributed to the moniker initially coined by a Tigers fan. Now a WNBA’s Chicago Sky team member, the 7th overall draft pick is looking for a new moniker.

  • She’s not afraid to take risks

Reese played for only two seasons at Maryland before joining the Tigers. Her transfer marked a turning point in her career. Since the switch, she has elevated her game to new heights, becoming a central figure in her team’s success. Her performance at LSU has been spectacular, making her a standout nominee for the award.

  • She’s booked and busy

During her off-season, the star has been busy giving interviews in both the sports and business industries. She has also been featured in Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit edition and Forbes Magazine.

  • She keeps a bag

During her college career, Angel Reese was one of the highest-earning female athletes in the NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) realm, sealing deals worth $1.7 million. Among her partnerships were Reebok, PlayStation, and Mercedes-Benz.

  • Her on-court performance is inspiring

From her agility, scoring ability, and defensive prowess, Reese has rightfully earned a spot among the top players in collegiate basketball and, someday, the WNBA. Her "Sportswoman of the Year" nomination reflects her sports dominance and excellence.
