BET Awards 2024: Will Smith Performs New Single 'You Can Make It'
Will Smith brought the crowd to church at the 2024 BET Awards tonight (June 30) by debuting his new single "You Can Make It," just two days after releasing the track which features Fridayy and Sunday Service Choir.
The Academy Award-winning actor's first-ever BET Awards performance was joined by Fridayy and Sunday Service Choir, as well as a surprise appearance from Kirk Franklin. The stage was filled with fire that was topped off with rain.
“Nobody gets an easy ride / We all have a cross to bear / But there’s wisdom in the fire / And every moment is an opportunity / Embrace the journey,” Smith said as he closed out the song.
"You Can Make It" was released on Friday (June 28). "Through some of my darkest moments, music has always been there for me -- to lift me and help me grow," Smith wrote in an Instagram post. "It's my humble wish that it can do the same for you and bring you all the joy and light you deserve."
Smith has a long history with the BET Awards. In 2005, he and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, hosted the show. He is also a three-time BET Award winner for best actor — Ali in 2001, Hancock/Seven Pounds, a double entry in 2009, and King Richard in 2022.
