Black Culture Center at Mizzou Vandalized
A sign for the Black Student Center at Mizzou was vandalized around 1 a.m. Thursday. The word "Black" was spraypainted in black to erase it from the sign, the Man Eater reports. The incident has occurred in the wake of week long protests against unchecked racism against Black students on campus that led to the president resigning.
Around the same time, a Black student named Isaac Jahns was walking from a dining hall on campus with friends when he heard someone say, "Black motherf-------, you’re not welcome here,” Jahns said. He said that he tried to call campus police but no one picked up. It is possible that the incident Jahns encountered may be linked to the vandalism that took place around the same time."
Upon hearing the news, The Legion of Black Collegians tweeted this: "We're not afraid. You clearly are. Stay strong Mizzou."
The University of Missouri police said in statement that they are investigating the crime. "Safety and security of our students is our top priority, and we are investigating all crimes as they are reported to us," the police department wrote.
