Keke Palmer Gets VP Kamala Harris To Share Her Silk Press Secrets
Earlier this week, Keke Palmer headed to the White House to interview Vice President Kamala Harris for an episode of her podcast: "Baby, This is Keke Palmer," and it was pure gold.
"How many times a month do you get a silk press?" Palmer asked the VP. She added a bouncy turn of her sleek hair to punctuate the question.
But Harris shocked the unflappable Palmer when she declared that she doesn't actually use heat styling tools to get her bouncy curls. "I use a round brush," Harris said. "A boar bristle [brush] . . . it takes a lot of heat, but it's just too much to do that and [a hot tool]."
Floored, Palmer compared Harris's sleek hair to a famous friend known for her luxurious mane. "You and Queen Latifah are going neck and neck," Palmer says. "You're giving it to her."
The podcast had a number of hilarious moments, but the interview also addressed the serious issue of maternal health.
Palmer reflected on her own experiences as a new mother. "Most mothers don't get the support they need," Palmer said at the start of the conversation and then rattled off a number of startling statistics—including the fact that maternal health crisis is most serious in ten states that have the highest rates of maternal mortality—which are the same states that have passed abortion bans.
“The failures of our healthcare system as it relates to women’s health care,” Harris started as she reinforced her mission from the beginning of her career. “The majority of my career I spent focused on the safety, the health and well-being of women and children.”
On top of the pressing issue, the special 26-minute episode also debuted a new game titled “Questions that NEED to be Answered” which is where the podcast host—who once played True Jackson, VP, got all the tea.
Palmer also asked the Vice President about working out and did her best, "We Did It, Joe," meme impression to which Harris could only respond, "You are a mess."
True. But, we love it.
