BET Awards ’20: Our Favorite Squad Goals From The Red Carpet
Remember when the outside was open and you could do things like eat at restaurants, hug friends, and go to day parties? The good old days. The COVID-19 pandemic has put a hard stop on all of the everyday activities we took for granted. The enforcement of social distancing rules has canceled a number of concerts, festivals, and other events we were all looking forward to this summer.
Fortunately, the 2020 BET Awards are still happening! (In a safe way of course.) Tune in to BET on June 28th at 8 pm EST to see all of the best of Black entertainment. Folks will get their flowers.
In the meantime, take a stroll down memory lane to past BET Award shows to the times when celebrities strolled the red carpet with their whole crew, showing us what #squadgoals really look like. Check out your favs hanging with your other favs.
Migos (2019)
You’ll need some sunglasses to get a proper look at this picture of Migos because otherwise all the diamonds sparkling in their grills and jewelry just might blind you. Who doesn’t like to bling among friends?
Meagan Good, DeVon Franklin, La’Myia Good, Eric Bellinger (2019)
Baby on board! Meagan Good and husband Devon Franklin were all smiles with Good’s very pregnant sister La’Myia Good and her husband Eric Bellinger. Auntie and Uncle were already excited for the little one’s arrival. That baby’s got “Good” genes.
Beyonce’s Dancers (2016)
Has Beyonce always been ahead of her time? This dramatic entrance to the 2016 BET Awards by her dancers is actually a good example of social distancing. Get in formation! Beyonce opened the show that year with Kendrick Lamar.

New Edition Story Cast (2016)
You guys! The New Edition Story mini-series was so, so good! Each and every actor did a phenomenal job and some of them hit up the 2016 BET Awards red carpet. Elijah Kelly, Luke James, Keith Powers, and Woody McClain all looked quite dapper.
Frankie Beverly and Maze (2012)
Just looking at this makes you picture your favorite uncle firing up the grill while your auntie two-steps with her red cup. Frankie Beverly and Maze are an integral part of Black cookouts and there is no argument about that. Does it even count as a cookout if “Before I Let Go” isn’t played?
Diddy (2010)
Diddy made the 2010 BET Awards a family affair by bringing along two of his kids, Quincy and Christian. They kept it casual, but still smooth. Young Christian already had his posing game on lock.

Jada, Jaden, and Willow (2010)
Even when Jaden and Willow Smith were kids, they were bursting with style and personality. This pic of them with mom Jada Pinkett Smithproves that they’ve always been stars. Later in 2010, Willow would go on to release her hit single “Whip My Hair.” Remember that song?
En Vogue (2008)
So many hits came from the powerhouse group En Vogue. Clad in all black, the ladies did not come to play at the 2008 BET Awards. They had planned on having a reunion tour this year, but sadly the COVID-19 pandemic put a halt to that.
G-Unit (2004)
There was a time in the early 2000s when G-Unit’s music was inescapable. At the 2004 BET Awards, the fellas hammed it up for the camera before they took to the stage to perform that year with big bro 50 Cent.

Destiny’s Child (2001)
At the very first BET Awards back in 2001, Destiny’s Child graced the red carpet decked out in sexy, sheer peekaboo attire. This was before Kelly Rowland, Beyonce, and Michelle Williams went their separate ways to kick off successful solo careers.
Jagged Edge (2001)
There was no way to miss Jagged Edge’s arrival to the 2001 BET Awards. Coordinating turquoise outfits with their group’s name written on them was quite the fashion statement. Who says men have to wear suits (or even sleeves) to fancy events? Buck convention, fellas!
