50 Cent Beats Infringement Case Over Before I Self Destruct

A judge dismisses lawsuit against the rapper.

50 Cent has one less lawsuit to worry about after winning a judgement in a Newark, New Jersey, court yesterday. The rapper and mogul beat a case filed by author Shadrach Winstead, who claimed 50 stole elements of his Before I Self Destruct film and album from his own autobiography.
Winstead had argued that lines from his book The Preacher's Son were ripped off by 50 verbatim, but in his review, a federal court judge failed to find substantial similarity between the materials and dismissed the case.
Recently, 50 was forced to change the title of another film he made called Things Fall Apart after the famed Nigerian author Chinua Achebe sued him for taking the title of his classic novel of the same name.
