Ice Cube on Jerry Heller's Death: 'I'm Not Losing No Sleep'

He was a little ruthless.

Over the weekend, Jerry Heller, the former manager of N.W.A, passed away at the age of 75. His death was met with mixed reactions, much like his career was met with a mixture of praise and criticism.

However, considering decades-old beef between Heller and Ice Cube, everyone was curious if the rapper would ever speak up on the matter. Turns out he decided to offer a comment, and it’s a little bit more ruthless than his son what his son, O’Shea Jackson Jr., had to say.

Ice Cube stopped by Detroit radio station 107.5’s The Morning Heat show, where he shared that he “had no emotions whatsoever” when he heard the news that Heller had passed.

“Watch your mouth,” Ice Cube said, interrupting the show host, Big Greg, as he said that Heller helped put N.W.A on the map.

“I didn’t have no emotions, you know,” the rapper said when asked about his thoughts on the matter. “I’m just glad I’m with my brothers today. It’s only right. I ain’t gonna pop no champagne but I ain’t gonna shed no tears either.”

“It is what it is. We come here, we pass and he’s outta here,” Cube continued. “I’m not losing no sleep over that one.”

Considering their history together, these comments aren’t all too surprising and, in Cube’s words, it is what it is.
