Usher's Team Finally Responds To Herpes Allegations
It’s been nearly one month since news broke that Usher has allegedly been infecting a string of women (and one man) with the herpes virus. And after various reports, testimonies, and alleged court document leaks, Usher’s team has finally issued a response. The pop star’s legal team is reportedly addressing one of his accusers who filed a $20 million lawsuit against him, and as expected, they are denying all claims.
The Confessions artist is reportedly seeking to get the suit tossed out of court on the basis that the woman doesn’t have proof that he gave her the STD. Usher’s team suggests that because there isn’t a record of the woman getting tested prior to their sexual encounter, that “a previous sexual partner very well may have already infected her,” court documents obtained by TMZ state. The docs also note that the woman could have contracted the virus from another partner after she and Usher met.
Raymond continues to find holes in the woman’s lawsuit by claiming she knew the risk of getting any STD when she decided to engage in “casual, unprotected sexual intercourse and/or oral sex” with the ATL native.
While Usher’s defense it plausible, it is important to note that there is no record of Usher denying that he has herpes. And aside from this case, there are a number of other alleged victims, including Quantasia Sharpton, who claim he knowingly infected them. The $20 million suit also follows a report that the singer settled a similar case for $1.1 million back in 2012. So there is probably still room for other accusers to prove negligence in the event Usher has the virus.
A judge has not reportedly ruled on whether this particular case will be thrown out due to insufficient evidence.
