Look: Wrong Number Text Turns Into Teen’s Invitation to a White Family’s Thanksgiving

Everyone gets a plate.

On Tuesday, 17-year-old Jamal Hinton of Phoenix was confused when he found out that he had been included in a Thanksgiving text conversation.

At first, Jamal thought the person he was talking to was his actual grandmother inviting him over for Thanksgiving.

Then Jamal asked her to send a photo and hilarity ensued.

  • Jamal Snapped several photos of the text conversation.

  • And people on Twitter got ready to line up for their own plate.

  • And this is not the first time a wrong number resulted in personal invites to intimate gatherings.

  • Back in March, a teen was accidentally invited to a stranger's baby delivery.

  • Some even go as far as to suggest that these scenarios prove there's no racial tension in America.

Although lighthearted in nature, stories such as this can't be used as a way to say "Lookeverybody, a White person did something good for a Black person. America's racial climate isn't that bad."

Sure, we can all get a good laugh and smile out of this but we still look forward to the day when stories like this aren't viewed as anomalies.

With that being said, we hope Jamal and mystery grandma have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
