J. Cole: Jay-Z Didn't Actually Call My Album a Classic

Rather, Cole heard it from an anonymous source through the grapevine.

J. Cole may be new to the hip hop scene, but he can already talk a big game. The Roc Nation rapper, whose debut album is due out next month, is having to take his Nike's out of his mouth again after earlier claiming that Jay-Z dubbed his unreleased LP a "classic," a declaration that spread across the internet like wildfire.
"The story comes from me telling someone what I was told about what [Jay-Z] said. You know what I'm saying? It's not like he did an interview and said it," explains Cole. "But if you ask him, I'm sure he'll probably tell you the same thing. But, it was so weird to see that headline."
J also had to take back another bold statement, saying Jay was confirmed to drop a verse on his new record. "Your guess is as good as mine if we're gonna get a Jay-Z verse," he told HipHopDX.
Sounds like an innocent mistake on the young rapper's part, but maybe it will teach him the first lesson of fame: the only way to beat a scandal is to create more scandal.
