Tupac’s Brother Claims Diddy Contacted Him To Deny Involvement in the Rapper’s 1996 Death

Mopreme Shakur said “back then, I wanted all the information I could get.”

Tupac’s brother is making some eye-opening claims about a phone call he says Diddy made to him some years after the death of the West Coast rap legend.

Mopreme Shakur recently recalled to The Art of Dialogue that the Bad Boy Records founder, who signed ‘Pac’s rival The Notorious B.I.G. to his imprint back in the day, hit his line in the 2000s to say that he wasn’t involved in his brother’s 1996 murder.

“The boy Puffy called me, though,” Shakur began. “Puffy called me back in the day. He was like, ‘I just want you to know I ain’t have nothing to do with your brother’s [murder]. I know who you are, but we never met. I just want to call you man to man and let you know that I ain’t have nothing to do with your brother’s death.'”

Mopreme then said the L.A. Times published an article during the time implicating Diddy in ‘Pac’s passing. While he says the music mogul seemed “sincere” during the call, he still wanted more information about the case.

“I told him I appreciate the call, but the truth has yet to come out, so we gon’ see,” he continued. “Back then, I wanted all the information I could get. I heard what he said, but this s**t been so chaotic. Ain’t know which way to go until you found out more information…He could have been trying to cover his a**, or he could have been sincere.”

The Times later retracted the article in 2008, claiming their story largely “relied heavily” on info that the newspaper no longer believed “to be credible.” That piece also did not implicate Duane “Keefe D” Davis, who was arrested earlier this month and charged in the killing of Tupac Shakur.
