Kourtney & Kim Take New York Hits Ratings Record

Kim Kardashian's spin-off reality show hauls in 3.2 million viewers.

If you're wondering whether or not America is done with Kim Kardashian, the proof is in the numbers. Kourtney & Kim Take New York, the spin-off reality show that features Kim, her sister Kourtney and their significant others galavanting around the Big Apple set a ratings record for E!, due in no small part to the fact that this season chronicled the demise of Kim's marriage to Kris Humphries.

The new season of the show, which premiered on Sunday, scored 3.2 million viewers (most of which in the coveted 18-49 demographic) and was not only the highest rated installment of the series, but also in the top-20 rated shows in E!'s history, says the Hollywood Reporter.

As for the looming question about how the show would deal with Kim's divorce (the season was meant to chronicle their first few months of marital bliss), producers handled the unexpected twist by front-loading the first episode with a montage of media coverage of the split, and then "flashing back" to reveal the origins of the couple's discontent (Exhibit A: Kris storms out after he finds Kim taking a "naked hot yoga" class with Kourtney and a nude male instructor).

Kim's supposed hiatus from the spotlight seems to be over — the star spent the duration of the premiere episode tweeting up a storm to promote her show.
