Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Reveal Title of Sophomore Album
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have revealed the title of their sophomore album, The Unruly Mess I’ve Made, dropping Feb. 26. The Seattle music duo announced the name via a video piece in which Macklemore opens up about his creative battles.
“Being comfortable is what kills artists,” he says. “There is creativity for validation and there is creativity for survival. I didn’t know what I wanted to say, didn’t know how the ink would stick to the page, how to let go of the anxiety or the suffocating fear that latched onto my vocal cords. I had to figure out how to use my voice again.”
The Unruly Mess I’ve Made follows The Heist, their 2012 platinum-selling debut. The album won a Best Rap Album Grammy just ahead of the group's musical hiatus. In the interim, Mack suffered a drug relapse.
Macklemore, 32, now credits the birth of his daughter with keeping him sober.
