Finally, We Learn Who Wrote and Produced On Frank Ocean's 'Blonde' Album
Despite Frank Ocean’s road to recording artist independence, his newfound autonomy didn't keep him from scooping a handful of help from industry A-listers for his sophomore studio undertaking Blonde.
Previously, Ocean uncovered names of who “contributed” to the 17-track project, but without specifics as to where the contributions were placed.
Andre 3000 and Kendrick Lamar were some of the most obvious, seeing as though they were featured on some of the standout tracks, but other contributors, such as Beyoncé and Kanye West, weren’t so apparent. With the newly released credits, we’ve now learned that Queen Bey’s satin vocals assisted Ocean’s “Pink + White” as some suspected while Yeezy offered his pen for the clairvoyant track “White Ferrari.”
For the Beyoncé-assisted single, Pharrell Williams also backed the production and instrumentals, as the savvy studio whiz provided bass and keyboards for “Pink + White.” Jazmine Sullivan’s powerful voice also sustained the vocals for “Solo,” where Ocean matches his soft tonality to the timbre of the R&B songstress.
