Spike Lee Announces Cast for Red Hook Summer
In addition to reprising his Do the Right Thing character "Mookie" for the upcoming release, Red Hook Summer, director Spike Lee has now announced the principal actors in the film’s cast.
BlackFilm.com is reporting that veteran television actor Clarke Peters, currently of Treme, who also played “Detective Lester Freamon” on the critically acclaimed HBO hit, The Wire, will star in the production. Great Debaters star Nate Parker, of the upcoming George Lucas-directed epic about theTuskegee Airmen, Red Tails, has also snagged a leading role.
Other co-starring and supporting actors in Red Hook Summer include Samantha Ivers, Limary Agosto, Turron Kofi Alleyne, Heather Simms and Kalon Jackson.
Much of the movie's plot has been shrouded in mystery, but the story is reportedly about an adult from Atlanta who spends the summer in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, New York.
Red Hook Summer is slated for release in the Summer of 2012.
