Martin Lawrence Jokes He’ll Foot the Bill for His Daughter Jasmin’s Wedding to Eddie Murphy’s Son, Eric

The comedy legends-turned-in-laws, who have sparred over wedding costs, will join forces to co-write a Blue Streak sequel, proving that family and laughs always come first.

Martin Lawrence will step up to financially cover the wedding of his eldest daughter, Jasmin, to Eddie Murphy’s eldest son, Eric.

The "Bad Boys: Ride or Die" star was a guest on REAL 92.3 radio show Big Boy's Neighborhood to discuss his current comedy tour and upcoming projects when Lawrence was asked about becoming in-laws with Murphy around the 11-minute mark of the video below.

Last Wednesday, November 27, Eric and Jasmin announced in a romantic Instagram reel that they’re now engaged after publicly launching their relationship in 2021.

After radio program host Big Boy asked which father would foot the wedding bill, Lawrence revealed it would be him. "Well, Eddie said I gotta pay for it," Lawrence admitted. "He said I gotta pay for it 'cause he paid for his last daughter's wedding, like the last six weddings."

"He said it's my turn now,” he continued. “I don't mind.”

Lawrence, who’s acted alongside Murphy in comedy flicks "Boomerang" and "Life," has gotten comfortable with his role as father-of-the-bride. Still, in a June 2022 episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," around the 3:50-minute mark, the actor-comedian joked about his intention to convince Murphy to pay for their son and daughter’s wedding.

Murphy followed with an appearance on Canadian outlet Etalk early last year, telling Lawrence not to “switch it up” and laughing about his refusal to pay. Although Lawrence and Murphy were on opposing sides about wedding costs, the two will reconnect to co-write a "Blue Streak" sequel, which Lawrence shared on "The Jennifer Hudson Show" and Big Boy's Neighborhood.
