Priot to his fight, BET.com caught up with “Tank” and we spoke about his upcoming battle with Garcia, how he prepares for each fight, and the future of boxing.

BET.com: When did you first fall in love with the sweet science of boxing?

Gervonta “Tank” Davis: Wow. I started boxing when I was seven years old. My coach was actually on an episode of The Wire. He was in one of the episodes when they were in the boxing gym,

BET.com: With everything that you're facing outside of the ring, how were you able to focus on one of the biggest fights of your career?

Davis: It's no different from any other fight. I’ve been doing this for a long time. That’s how I try to look at it. I try to block everything else out.  I’m getting more and more comfortable as a pro so it's just another fight.

BET.com: What is your daily routine like when you're preparing for a big fight?

Davis: I try to wake up around 11 or 12. Then I go for my afternoon run and come back to the crib to chill. After that, I get ready to start my training.

BET.com: What makes Ryan Garcia such a formidable opponent?

Davis: I mean, he's young, he's fast, and he's strong you know? He’s hungry too. I’m looking forward to it. That's about all I can say about him.

BET.com: While promoting the fight, you said that you would put up your purse against Gracia’s winnings in a” winner take all” bet on Instagram. Is it really going to happen?

Davis: I’m trying to make it legit [Laughs]. We are trying to get in contact with his people and him personally. It’s on pause right now though. The bet is not legit yet.

BET.com: After this fight, do you plan to move up in weight to pursue championships in other divisions?

Davis: I'm pretty comfortable at 135 lbs, so I'll be here for some time. But if the right opportunity comes, I'm all for that too.

BET.com: Currently, you represent yourself and Garcia is promoted by Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy promotions.  Do you think this fight can be a model of how different promotions can create major pay-per-views in the future?

Davis: I really hope so because it's great for the sport. Hopefully, people will come together and promoters will try to make these big fights happen. This is just the start so hopefully, there'll be more big fights like this in the future.

BET.com: Lastly, what is your prediction for the fight?

Gervonta Davis: I do (Laughs). It’s going to be a knockout for sure.
