Legendary jazz vocalist Etta James is recovering from a urinary tract infection and the blood infection sepsis. James was admitted into a hospital in Southern California's Riverside County earlier this week. 

Although the condition is serious Sametto Jones, James' son, spoke with Reuters about his mother's improving condition. "It was a really bad infection," said James. 'Right now she's doing a lot better."  

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honoree has struggled with obesity in the past, undergoing gastric bypass surgery eight years ago.
