Kanye West Set To Speak At Joel Osteen’s Church This Weekend
Kanye West’s Sunday Service is taking it to another level.
In its next ministerial experience, West and his choir will make a special appearance this Sunday (Nov. 17) at the Lakewood Church in Houston. According to TMZ, ‘Ye will attend the 11 a.m. service and have a 20- to 30-minute conversation with its lead pastor, Joel Osteen. Their sources report that Osteen wants West to “contrast his life then and now.”
The mega-congregation at Lakewood Church has a community of 45,000 and a viewership of 10 million in the United States. An evening service will take place where the Jesus Is King artist will perform with his accompanying choir. A close source, per the outlet, stated that “Kanye used to be about nothing greater than himself. Now it’s all about a higher power.”
Osteen initially extended an invitation to the newly emerged gospel rapper two weeks ago, says KHOU11. Lakewood has also spoken to the developing friendship that Osteen and West have, as further reported by the outlet.

West initially started his Sunday Services at the beginning of this year, first performing on his property in Calabasas, California, before visiting different cities in the U.S. and going abroad. With the release of his first gospel-centric album, Jesus Is King has made history on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs and Hot Gospel Songs charts. His project opened on No. 1 on the Top Christian Albums and Top Gospel Albums at the start of November. As of Tuesday (Nov. 12), “Selah,” “Closed On Sunday,” “Follow God,” and “On God” have dropped in chart numbers but still remain in the Top 100.
Despite divided criticisms from Yeezy fans and churchgoers alike, it appears that West won’t be peddling back on his new musical career pivot.
