2022 NAACP Image Awards: 'The Harder They Fall' Wins Outstanding Motion Picture

The Black western proved that all Black stories must be told.

The 53rd NAACP Image Awards aired Saturday night in a two-hour presentation hosted by award-winning actor Anthony Anderson and it was full of star power, Black excellence and award winners. 

Sterling K. Brown clenched "Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series" and Angela Bassett won "Outstanding Actress". But the biggest win of the night was Jeymes Samuel's The Harder They Fall, the Black Western, starring Regina King, Idris Elba, Jonathan Major, LaKeith Stanfield and Zazie Beetz won the 2022 NAACP Image Award for "Outstanding Motion Picture".

The award, which was presented by actress Zendaya, included King Richard, Judas and The Black Messiah, Respect and the United States vs. Billie Holiday.

"I'd like to thank Netflix for making this movie," Samuel said, in a very excited acceptance speech.
