"Glee" Sparks Outrage After Lady Gaga Episode

There's been some hell raised over the the show, which some say pushes a pro-gay agenda.

Tuesday’s 90-minute episode of Glee addressed gay bullying and aimed to promote self-acceptance, but not everyone could tolerate the message.

"This is [creator] Ryan Murphy's latest depraved initiative to promote his gay agenda," conservative media critic Dan Gainor said to ABCNews.com. In the episode, an openly gay student, Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer), comes back to the school and faces his former bully, a closeted football player. He gets an apology and the show’s glee club sings Lady Gaga’s prideful “Born This Way” single.

Gainor called the fictional high school, “the gayest high school in the history of mankind,” and added, “This is clearly Murphy’s vision of what growing up should be, not most of America’s. It’s a high school most parents would not want to send their kids to.”

This wouldn’t be the first time the hit show has been slammed for its themes. Other critics have also fumed that Glee takes jabs at religious groups and promotes a negative depiction of conservatives.

Former Saturday Night Live comic Victoria Jackson called an episode where the character Kurt has his first kiss with another boy "sickening” and ranted on her WorldNetDaily blog: "Besides shoving the gay thing down our throats, they made a mockery of Christians—again! I wonder what their agenda is? Hey, producers of Glee—what's your agenda? One-way tolerance?”
