The NFL is taking very drastic procedures to make  sure they don’t have another deflategate scandal on their hands.

League officials plan on keeping a much closer eye on football inflation this season. According to ESPN, there will now be pre-game football pressure readings and random halftime and post-game re-checks, beginning with this fall.

That's not all, either. NFL officials will inspect each football and deliver them to a kicking ball coordinator, who will take all the footballs until 10 minutes before kickoff. Footballs must have at least 12.5 pounds per square inch of air and no more than 13.5 psi.

Of course, these practices are a direct fallout of the notorious New England Patriots Deflategate scandal. Tom Brady has been suspended for four games for instructing team equipment staffers to deflate footballs to make them easier to throw and catch during the AFC title game in January.
