NY AG Letitia James Vows to Keep Fighting President-Elect Trump Following White House Victory
Donald Trump may have clinched the 2024 presidential election, but his legal battle with New York Attorney General Letitia James is far from over.
In a press release shortly after Trump’s victory, James clarified that her office is committed to pursuing its case against the twice-impeached president, indicating that his return to the White House won’t hinder her ongoing efforts.
“If possible, we will work with the administration but will not compromise values, integrity, and principles,” James told reporters during a joint press conference on Wednesday (Nov. 6) with Governor Kathy Hochul.
“We did not expect this result, but we are prepared to respond to this result,” she added, emphasizing that “we are prepared to fight back once again.”

James went on to say, “We know their playbook. We know Project 2025 before it was even published,” referencing a collaborative plan by Democratic attorneys general “to respond to any attempt to roll back our rights.”
“No matter what the next administration throws at us, we’re ready,” she concluded, underscoring her determination to stand firm.
Last May, the president-elect was convicted on 34 felony counts for falsifying business records in New York, with sentencing initially set for September but later rescheduled for November 26.
Trump now stands as the first president to assume office while facing multiple pending criminal cases.
