Al Roker ‘Could Not Be Happier’ As He Celebrates Daughter Leila’s Engagement
Love is in the air for Leila Roker. The daughter of legendary broadcaster Al Roker is officially engaged after a stunning proposal in Venice, Italy.
Over the weekend, the 26-year-old journalist announced the happy news on Instagram, sharing a series of dreamy photos from the heartwarming moment.
“8 years ago, I moved to Paris 🇫🇷, 7 years ago I met my person and best friend 💖, and 2 days ago, that person took me on the most amazing surprise trip to Venice 🇮🇹 to ask me to spend the rest of our lives together 💍 💕💕,” Leila captioned the post showing off a dazzling pear-shaped diamond ring.
Her fiancé, Sylvain Gricourt, also celebrated the milestone with a heartfelt Instagram post, calling the proposal the “best thing I did in the last 33 years.”
He added: “@leilaroker qu’est-ce que tu dis de passer les 33 prochaines ensemble, et toutes celles d’après?” — which translates in English to: What do you say about spending the next 33 together, and all the ones after that?
The engagement was met with pure joy from Leila’s family. Her mom, ABC News journalist Deborah Roberts, welcomed Sylvain to the family, commenting, "We could not be happier and more joyful!!!! Now let’s plan a wedding!”
Meanwhile, proud dad Al took to Instagram to share the exciting news himself. “Well, it is now official. @gricourt.thegreat has proposed to my little girl, @leilaroker, in the romantic city of Venice. We could not be happier, and look forward to planning for these two wonderful young folks coming together.”
The engagement comes just months after Al, Deborah, and their youngest son, Nick, traveled to France for the holidays to visit Leila and her then-boyfriend.
