Sean "Diddy" Combs was taken into federal custody in New York City following a grand jury indictment on September 16, 2024. Combs has been embroiled in scandal since news broke last November that former girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie Ventura, had filed a lawsuit alleging sexual and physical abuse, according to CBS News.

On Tuesday (Sept. 17), Combs was charged with three counts: racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution, according to legal documents.

In March, Combs' Los Angeles and Miami homes were raided by Homeland Security due to ongoing sex trafficking allegations. In May, a video from 2016 surfaced of Combs attacking Ventura in a hotel hallway. He later released a public apology. Details on the charges in today's indictment have not been released.

"We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney's Office," Marc Agnifilo, an attorney for Combs, said in a statement. "Sean 'Diddy' Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community. He is an imperfect person but he Is not a criminal. To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court."

In recent months, Combs has faced several additional accusations. He's denied all allegations.
